[Linux-HA] Recovering from an unmanaged resource

We have a resource that goes to unmanaged due to a stop timeout.  We plan to
increase the stop timeout from 20 seconds to 60 seconds.  However, we would
like understand the standard process to move an unmanaged resource back to a
managed resource.  We are manually restarting the heartbeat service change
the resource to managed.  I have read about stonith, but I am not sure if
this is the appropriate process to recover an unmanaged resource.
