Did you use "autojoin" opton when creating ha.cf? If no you have to stop
heartbeat on all (!) nodes, edit ha.cf and start heartbeat again.
If you want to have your ressources running during that operation you can put
them into "unmanaged" state. So they will not be affected of the shutdown.
