Have a look at:
http://www.linux-ha.org/ResourceAgent
http://www.linux-ha.org/LSBResourceAgent
You can use LSB scripts if they are fully compliant, though you can not use the extended monitoring features provided by heartbeat.
The standard MySQL init script does not implement the status operation and has to be adapted.
