[Linux-HA] mysql cluster

I am going to attempy to implement an active passive mysql cluster using 
shared SAN disks.
Imacines are rhel AS boxes and i intend to configure as follows.

service ip , mdadm script to setup and mount the san disks, then finally 
bring up the mysql DB with the data on the disks....

from what ive read ill be needing stonith...

is this the 'best' way to do this (mysql HA )
I only have two nodes/servers, are there any other ways I could try that 
might be better or do any of the list members have any experience in 
this area...
