When I try to start heartbeat (opensuse 9.3) I get the following:
sbtuxcl1:/etc/init.d # ./heartbeat start
logd is already running
Starting High-Availability services:
Heartbeat failure [rc=6]. failed
heartbeat[23226]: 2005/10/17_10:46:57 ERROR: glib: Get broadcast for interface
eth0 failed: Cannot assign requested address
heartbeat[23226]: 2005/10/17_10:46:57 ERROR: glib: IP interface [eth0] does not
exist
heartbeat[23226]: 2005/10/17_10:46:57 ERROR: Illegal bcast [UDP/IP broadcast]
in config file [eth0]
heartbeat[23226]: 2005/10/17_10:46:57 ERROR: Heartbeat not started:
configuration error.
heartbeat[23226]: 2005/10/17_10:46:57 ERROR: Configuration error, heartbeat not
started.
As I recall, I'm not supposed to use the OS to configure the ethernet interface
over which heartbeat travels; but isn't that the root cause of my troubles?
Greg
