unable to find correct adapter

This comes up from time to time.  You're far from the first.  I suppose
I was one of the first :-)  Perhaps if Rudy gets a moment free from the
new baby routine, he can stick this in the docs.  It's clearly a
prerequisite.  Unfortunately, it doesn't come up so often that I
remember it immediately.
